A comprehensive eye exam at Raymore Eyecare offers a complete eye health assessment. Our team takes the time to understand your needs, beginning with a friendly consultation and guiding you through each step.
We use a range of diagnostic tools to gain a full picture of your vision and eye health. We strive to educate you about our findings so you know what’s happening with your eyes and how to support your vision.
Eye Diseases & Conditions We Manage
Detecting and addressing eye conditions early on is the key to effective management. Raymore Eyecare is here to diagnose a range of eye health concerns, offering personalized guidance and support to find the best treatments for you.
Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a common refractive error that causes blurred or distorted vision due to an irregular curve in the cornea or lens. Depending on the eye’s curvature, people with astigmatism can experience blurred vision at near and far distances.
Cataracts
Cataracts are cloudy areas that develop on the eye’s lens. While they are commonly associated with the natural aging process, they can also result from eye injuries or medical conditions, such as diabetes or high myopia (nearsightedness).
Cataracts cause hazy or blurred vision, making it challenging to see in low light conditions or read small text.
Dry Eye Disease
Dry eye occurs when your eyes don’t produce enough quality tears or when tears evaporate too quickly. The lack of consistent moisture leads to discomfort, irritation, and blurry vision.
We can help you find longer-lasting relief with a personalized management plan and targeted treatments.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy affects people with diabetes. It damages blood vessels in the retina and causes symptoms like blurred or fluctuating vision. Early detection through diabetic eye exams is key to preventing and managing changes to your eye health.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a group of conditions that damage the optic nerve, often related to high pressure within the eye. It may progress without noticeable symptoms, changing irreversible deterioration that can lead to complete blindness if left untreated.
Regular eye exams help us monitor eye pressure and assess optic nerve damage to watch for changes or risk factors.
Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration affects the central part of the retina—the macula—causing vision loss in the center of your vision. There are 2 forms: dry, which develops slowly, and wet, which can progress rapidly.
This condition is often called age-related macular degeneration (AMD) as it’s the leading cause of severe vision loss in adults over 50. Other risk factors include excessive UV exposure, poor nutrition, smoking, and high myopia (nearsightedness).
Early detection and intervention can help slow its progression.
Our Diagnostic Technology
At Raymore Eyecare, we use modern diagnostic tools to improve the accuracy and thoroughness of our eye health assessments. Our technology helps us personalize your care and match you with suitable, effective treatments.
Wide-Field Retinal Imaging
Our wide-field retinal cameras capture high-resolution images of your retina. With detailed images of the back of the eye, we can closely monitor your eye health, detect early signs of disease, and track changes over time to help provide targeted eye disease management.
Tonometer
The iCare tonometer measures eye pressure (fluid pressure) in your aqueous humor. This fluid in the center of your eye helps maintain its shape and cushions tissue during movement. This quick test is essential for assessing glaucoma risk and monitoring your overall eye health.
Visual Field Testing
Our Oculus system allows us to evaluate your visual field—which includes your central (straight-ahead) vision and peripheral vision (what you can see out of the “corner” of your eye).
Visual field testing helps identify blind spots or peripheral vision loss, which can be key indicators for glaucoma or other eye diseases. Monitoring these symptoms early can help create accurate treatment plans.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a tool for capturing a cross-sectional image of your retina. This gives us a detailed look at the tissue layers to help diagnose and manage conditions like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Nighthawk Slit Lamp
The Nighthawk slit lamp is a diagnostic tool designed to assess and monitor dry eye more efficiently. Advanced imaging technology allows for a detailed view of the cornea, tear film, and ocular surface, helping us identify and track the underlying causes of dry eye.
An accurate diagnosis allows us to create personalized treatment plans that address each patient’s specific needs.
